Who meets who???

February 24th, 2011 Sections: Celestial Mountains, From an Expat

A few months ago we had a film crew visit from the What Took You So Long Foundation, (Alicia Sully, Philippa Young and Sebastian Lindstrom).  They were travelling the world searching for camel cheese.  Having already been to China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan they came to Kyrgyzstan on their Uzbekistan and beyond.  I wrote a postcard about their visit at the time.

Well, they are now in the Middle East having been through several African countries and I have been following their adventures on Twitter and Facebook.  They were in Egypt, for example, just before the protests.

Over the last couple of days there have been a number of personal messages to tell me that they were preparing a short clip about their time in Kyrgyzstan featuring part of an interview that they took with me.    They already have a large number of clips on You Tube, (44 at the present time), uploaded over the past year or so, including one taken in Kyrgyzstan, in Naryn and Son Kul.

I wasn’t expecting Kyrgyzstan to feature largely in their work as they didn’t find that many camels here, yet alone camel cheese, however, it was nice to be included in their portfolio.

They have posted a short video, just two and half minutes, which is called “What Took You So Long meets Ian Claytor“.  The description proclaims:

Ian Claytor is the man of ‘good will’ in Kyrgyzstan. 15 years ago he fell in love with the country, a love that is still going strong. The Silk Road Lodge is his hotel, featured alongside the beautiful mountains, landscapes, horses and people of Kyrgyzstan.

Here’s the clip – but why not go and have a look at the others … and at the What Took You So Long website to see what else they and the others have been getting up to.

Thanks Alicia, Philippa and Sebastian … good luck with the rest of your search – and try to avoid any more revolutions.

Incidentally, my co-star is the cat Victor … 12 years old.
