Kyrgyzstandyn mamlekettik koozoot kyzmatynyn kyzmatkerinin koonoo
Kyrgyzstandyn mamlekettik koozoot kyzmatynyn kyzmatkerinin koonoo – now, that’s a mouthful!
It’s the name – in Kyrgyz – of the State Security Service of the Kyrgyz Republic – and today happens to be their “professional holiday“.
In a way, that seems to be quite appropriate because they have just had a very period with Bishkek hosting the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, attended by eight heads of state and a variety of other dignitaries among the more than 1200 participants.
As a result, I think they probably deserve a “day off” … but they probably won’t get it because security, like hotels and hospitals, tends to be a “round the clock” affair.
As is often the case here, the date was chosen to mark the “birthday” of the service, (birthdays are really important here); it was on 16th September 1992 that President Askar Akaev signed the Decree establishing the service.
.

.
The day itself came into being only in 2009, established in order to foster a spirit of loyalty to the military to the people, loyalty to military duty and military traditions.
So, to all members of the Security Service of the Kyrgyz Republic – congratulations on last week … and have a good day!
