Very interesting.

Could you, as an expert, comment (on a regular
postcard) on the feasibility of starting cheap charter flights to encourage foreign tourists to spend a week or two in Kyrgyzstan? Could
it work, or is it premature (not enough inexpensive hotel rooms, for instance)? I may not be typical, but it's the price of an airticket that makes Kyrgyzstan out of the question for a holiday.

To be provocative: I think that on the whole Turkey and Turks have played a very positive role in various parts of the former Soviet Union.

Best for the Old New Year, just starting today.

Following the 2 day flu, I am fine thanks and have had a great Hogmanay in Stobo castle which was fantastic!
I see you mean Organisations promoting tourism not facilities providing for tourists. OK, sorry to appear pedantic. Hope all is well with you. The usual weekly updates I receive have a definite optimism to them for KR so hopefully this year will be a turning point for the economy and for your business interests too.
The folks here are predicting that UK folk will stay home this year and boost the loacl economy by 7.5Billion £ which may partly explain the downward trend on International travel?

Thanks for the message ... I hope you are well and recovered from any excesses involved with the recent festivities!

Yes, you are right that there are licenses in the UK - e.g. for selling liquor, but not for tourist enterprises ... like our tour company. That was the point I was trying to make ... sorry if what I said was "confusing" and implied that we don't have ANY form of licensing in the UK.

Good to see that you are soldiering on in KR. You say that licensing does not exist in UK and that is not strictly correct. There is no National licensing but there is definitely Local licensing by Councils and that starts with liquor liecenses and is being extended in some ares (Blackpool for sure) where Councils are looking to increase their control and revenues.
Best wishes for 2012,
