Three interesting points from a news conference which was held yesterday to commemorate the day:

"25 percent of tuberculosis patients in Kyrgyzstan do not have access to skilled care", according to the head of the office of the World Health Organization in Kyrgyzstan, Oscon Moldokulov.

"In the capital of Kyrgyzstan has been an increase of tuberculosis among children", although no specific statistics were given.

"In 2010 there were 22 patients identified with tuberculosis who did not want to be treated," ... apparently in the legislation there is "a point about criminal liability for refusal of treatment" but there is no provision for dealing with someone for the evasion of treatment.
